Classical Marble

This piece is located above the door of an elegant Georgian terraced house. A period characterised through the novels of Jane Austin by an admiration for classical restraint, this design took its inspiration from a plaster copy in the possession of the clients of a Roman marble. The figure thus immortalised is that of Clyte. I have painted and fired a view of the head onto glass and this forms the centre and focus of the piece.
