The brief called for the window to be of contemporary design so as to complement the interior of the new roof. A design utilising coloured glass was specified with the intention of reducing the contrast between the window and the darkness of the upper part of the roof, as well as to project patterns of coloured light down into the church from above. In situ the rainbow colour scheme produces a subtle and changing glow of warm lights and reflections.
