One of the most striking qualities of stained
glass is the immediacy with which colour is experienced by
the eye.
The effect is really that of illumination: glowing light drawn
down into an interior.
For, unlike painting with pigments, the extraordinary
visual intensity achieved with stained glass is the result
of transmitted as opposed to reflected light.
It is this unique quality that makes it eminently suited as
a medium for exploring abstract colour.
