Imaginative Works in Glass
© 1996 – 2010
Karim Yasamee

This is not a category of work I find easy to define, though like many things in life you recognize it when you see it. Obviously it takes us beyond decorative functionality.

However, it is the commissions calling for imaginative input that I find the greatest challenge and the most rewarding. Paradoxically this has little to do with any increased scope for self-expression.

Rather is it because the artist must respond more deeply to the task in hand and on many more levels, both conscious and intuitive. He must give more of himself, and in so doing may discover talents and sensitivities of which he was previously unaware.
